James R. Smith was born and raised in BC. He began his career as a safety professional in BC after working as a heavy equipment operator and as a combat engineer with the Canadian Armed Forces. Since 1997, James has provided professional inspection, consulting, education, and training services in construction, manufacturing, office, warehousing, and utilities.
Training and education services provided include supervisory, construction fall protection systems , quartz respirable silica dust awareness, air purification respiratory systems, WHMIS, aerial-lifts: boom and scissor, and through alliances confined space awareness, standby, lockout, and rescue.
Consulting services range from field level assessments, performance measurement, behavioral modification, communication, policy, procedural, and systems standardization, and the business of safety management.
Safety Systems Management services for clients include general, site specific, and trade specific theatres of operations. These clients include self proprietorships, incorporated, limited partnerships, and developers.

James attended a tower crane inspector course at the North Carolina T-REX assembly plant. His Crane Institute of America instructor possessed 47 years of crane rigging and crane operations experience.”
